Enchanted in the Grove of Tea — The Dream of Individual Cells —,
the space is composed through an installation using tea leaves and branches that fall outside standard production criteria, sourced from the process of tea cultivation.
Rooted in traditional woodcraft techniques, artist Shuji Nakagawa expands beyond conventional boundaries, exploring new possibilities through imagination.

Biography
1968 Born in Kyoto, Japan
1988 Enrolled in the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Kyoto Seika University; studied contemporary art
1992 Apprenticed under his father, Seiji Nakagawa (designated a Living National Treasure in 2001), and began his career in woodworking
2003 Established his studio, Nakagawa Mokkougei Hira Studio, in Shiga, Japan
2012 Exhibited at Maison&Objet, France
2015 Solo exhibition in Paris
2016 Two-person exhibition at Wako, Ginza, Tokyo
2016 KI-OKE Stool acquired for the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London
2017 Finalist, LOEWE Craft Prize
2021 Received the 13th Award for the Creation of Traditional Culture
2023 Recipient of the Ronnie Award
