戸田  沙也加/ 作品名

Through her fieldwork on tea, Sayaka Toda visited tea fields repeatedly, studying the journey of tea from cultivation to the final cup. Within this process, she focused in particular on the blooming of tea flowers.

White, delicate, and quietly beautiful, these flowers are often viewed as unwelcome in tea production. When they bloom in abundance, they can affect the flavor and aroma of the tea leaves. As a result, something that naturally emerges in the life cycle of the plant is carefully removed by human hands.

Finding both fragility and a subtle beauty in this quiet disappearance, Toda gives form to the presence of tea flowers through painting and installation.
